1. DFES Self Selector

What is it?
When should I use it?
  • When you have a specific policy direction that you can share
Where can I find it?
  • The DFES Self Selector can be found in the LAEP+ Planning Tool under Maps > DFES

2. Your Decarbonisation Story

What is it?
  • Your Decarbonisation Story is our understanding of your current net zero plans, policies and direction. We curate a report for each local authority that we serve, based on publicly available information. 
  • You can review Your Decarbonisation Story and provide updates and feedback so we have the latest understanding of your plans
When should I use it?
  • When you want to ensure we have the best understanding of your policies and direction
Where can I find it?
  • Your Decarbonisation Story is available from the homepage of the LAEP+ Planning Tool
  • You can also book a meeting with a member of the team, and we’ll be very happy to review the story with you in detail

3. DFES widget

What is it?
  • The DFES widget lets you share forecasts for the uptake of low carbon technologies in your area, between now and 2050.
  • You can share forecasts for single or multiple different technologies at a time, and you can return at any time to add or update new forecasts.
When should I use it?
  • When you have forecasts for one or more technologies in your area, and how you expect uptake to change for any period between now and 2050

4. LAEP+ Planning Tool – Projects

What is it? 
  • The Projects feature within our free LAEP+ Planning Tool allows you to model projects on a map, assess impacts, and optionally share information about the project with us.
When should I use it?
  • When you’re planning a local project which is likely to go ahead
Where can I find it? 
  • You find the Projects feature within the LAEP+ Planning Tool under Map > Projects
  • Once you have developed your project in the tool you can use the ‘Submit to DNO’ option to share the details with us

5. LAEP+ Planning Tool – Scenarios

What is it? 
  • The Scenarios feature within our free LAEP+ Planning Tool allows you to forecast the rollout of low carbon technologies in your local authority area, based on time, cost and other factors, then optionally share the results of the scenario with us.
When should I use it?
  • When you have created a scenario that you are likely to pursue, you can choose to share with UK Power Networks
Where can I find it? 
  • You can find the Scenarios feature within the LAEP+ Planning Tool under Scenarios from the main navigation
  • Once you have run your scenario, you’ll have an option to share with your network operator

6. Data Dictionary

What is it? 
  • The Data Dictionary is a templated format for detailed spatially mapped forecasts
  • You may have these if you already have a Local Area Energy Plan (LAEP) or working on forecasts at granular level
When should I use it?
  • When you have detailed, spatially mapped forecasts (such as those found in a LAEP)
Where can I find it? 
  • We provide an overview and full data dictionary page with templates to help you get started
